How often should I bath my tibetan terrier?
He starts to look a bit scruffy and gets a bit whiffy after a few weeks, but I worry about bathing him too often, especially as he's been itching a bit recently. I use frontline spray as we also have 5 cats, and a flea repellent shampoo.He has a lot of coat as he's never been clipped, but is groomed regularly.
It doesn't sound as if you're bathing too often but it could be that he's allergic to the shampoo you're currently using. It isn't necessary to use a flea shampoo since any shampoo will kill any fleas currently on the dog. Try changing to a mild dog shampoo. You can also get "waterless" shampoos that don't require any rinsing out to use between regular baths. If he's being thoroughly groomed on a regular (at least once a week) basis, he really should not need a complete bath more than 3 or 4 times a year (more often only if he's being shown). The exception would be if he got into something dirty and/or stinky.
