Tips and Suggestions for the culinary class I was assigned to teach?
Helloooo everyone! Alright, here's my dilemma guys... . I've been assigned to teach a culinary class over the summer after I get certified. It's a two hour class and I have no leadership nor teaching experience. In addition to that, I have a Russian accent therefore I am still struggling a bit with English words. However, I'd really like to teach this class, and make it simply fun! Although I must say, I could totally use your suggestions and help. As far as what dish should I make to what are main points that I should/could bring up and talk about during those two hours. Any input be sincerely appreciated! Thank You, good night 
Rule one, talk about something you know or you'll be caught out.
Find out a little about your audience/students - while you may not have biographical information about them, use some generalisations: what are the local demographics? Then consider what might appeal to them.
What can you make from absolute scratch that most people make out of a packet? Do you have some favourite ingredients that you use to add a twist to something common? Do you have one recipe that can be incredibly versitile? (I can serve up crepes for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there is no resemblance between the three).
Make sure everyone is being fed something that's been made.
Teach people useful kitchen habits too.
Quiz them at the end (quickfire spoken questions and small rewards (chocolates work) to encourage participation) - it's a teaching technique that reinforces to the participants that they have actually learnt something and makes them feel good about taking two hours of their precious time to be a part of the group.
Name tags, unless you have a photographic memory and can get every single name right after hearing it once.
To overcome the accent, put "hard" words in big on a whiteboard (or whatever writing tool you're using) as you say them. Having the list there will also connect with the visual learners.
Some people prefer listening (auditory), some looking (visual), some touching (tactile), some doing (kinesthetic) - try and get them doing a bit of each. If it's a demonstration only, pop some little dishes of ingredients around the desks and let people touch, smell and taste them as appropriate.
