How can One Get dietary "fiber" from a powder that mixes with water?
Several products advertised on TV claim to supply certain amounts of dietary fiber!
One mixes clear and one is orange flavored. I thought "fiber" was a physical form of roughage(nuts,grains etc). How can a flavored water drink claim to be a source of fiber?
"Fiber is a virtually indigestible substance that is found mainly in the outer layers of plants."
This means that yes, fiber can be in a powder form because it is ground down. It is still effective in this form because your body cannot digest it.
There are two main types of fiber, and they have different effects on the body:
