How are "Gummi Bears" and "Gummi Worms" made?
My nephew said he seen where they were made from cow hooves or something. So, I was wanting to see if any of you all knew.
Gelatin is made of boiled animal bones and skin. Yes, you're son is correct. Its boiled from the leftover parts of the animal that isn't marketed as meat. marshmallows are also made of this. It is for this reason that vegetarians put gummy candies and marshmallows on the top of their avoid list. I am afraid Tony is partially incorrect. They may not use cow hooves, but gelatin does primarily use animal products. You will find that health food stores will sell "vegan" candies which do not contain animal products.
