Hanzell Pinot Noir 2007 Wine
USD 68.99

If it is true that great wines are grown in vineyard, then it must also be true that intrinsic qualities of that vineyard are what make wine great. Given all distinct differences between each of our individual vineyard blocks: elevation, aspect, slope, clone/rootstock, vine age, trellising, wind patterns, etc; one would expect wildly different resulting wines. While there are subtle differences of course, they share far more characteristics in common. This Hanzell signature in our grapes speak to similar elemental threads that run through all of our vineyards and are a testament to consistency of individual hands that tend them. Roasted and savory spices, tobacco leaf, smoked meats, and scents of forest floor lend dark counterpoint to bright fruit aromas of pomegranate, blackberry and orange-peel. Rich ripe fruit flavor gives balance to copious mouth-filling tannins. With time resting in decanter, delineation between fruit and structure of this wine evaporates into a seamless and f Win

All fruit in this Pinot Noir is grown on Etude Estate Vineyards in Carneros and comes from shy-bearing selections with a marked tendency to produce small, irregularly shaped bunches and very small berries. Growers typically hold such vines in low regard due to their inability to produce consistent crops. This tenuous economic viability threatens their existence. This Intriguing and expressive Pinot Noir opens with aromas of raspberry, violet, black tea and spice. generous fruit flavors and vibrant acidity create a broad palate. velvety tannins and wonderful oak integration carry through on long finish, which is persistent with hints of orange zest and spi Internati

Drew The Gatekeepers Blend Pinot Noir 2009 Wine
USD 27.99

concept of Gatekeepers has always been about synergizing two excellent but markedly different sites from opposite sides of a single appellation. In this case, appellation is very exciting Mendocino Ridge AVA. Both vineyards qualify to be in Mendocino Ridge as they are both ridge-top vineyards above minimum 1,200 ft. requirement and are both less than 10 miles from ocean. In other words both sites receive lots of wind and cool sunshine hours. As fog typically sits at 800ft level, any vineyards above that line receive more sunlight hours, yet those hours are cooler from natural air conditioning of fog. These two stellar vineyards include Manchester Ridge Vineyard and Perli Vineyard, both absolutely worthy of single vineyard designates but when they meet, they elevate each other in an undeniable marriage. There are too many words to describe this wine here but just think along lines of these few descriptors and not in any special order: Rose stems, sandal wood, quince, pom International W

Artesa Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2008 Wine
USD 38.99

2008 was another drought year in Napa Valley, making vines relatively less vigorous with smaller berries. Bud break in Artesa's Carneros vineyard occurred usual time -- from mid to late March -- but a severe frost limited crop size even further. vineyard team worked hard through season to ensure even ripeness among berries. A long heat spell first week of September signaled beginning of harvest, however temperature soon dropped drastically and weather stayed cool and dry for rest of month. Our estate Pinot Noir grapes were hand harvested in September at full maturity. Heady aromas of raspberry, cherry and wild strawberry jump from glass, tinged with notes of anise and coriander. Pure and vibrant, wine delivers sweet red cherry and berry flavors that pick up spicy notes of clove and cinnamon and a hint of toffee on finish. Fruit concentration, bright acidity and velvety tannins are hallmarks of this estate-grown Pinot Noir. Wine Spectator rating: 90.

Lucienne Pinot Noir Lone Oak Vineyard 2007 750ml
USD 36.19

Located in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Californiaa s Monterey County, Lucienne Vineyards produces premium estate bottled Pinot Noir from the Nicolaus Hahn Family Wine Estate. Lucienne Vineyards takes its name from two sources: Nicky Hahna s middle name a Lucien, and Santa Lucia, the Patron Saint of Light. Santa Lucia is known for arriving with a crown of candles to bring light to the darkness during the yuletide and winter solstice. Her crown of candles graces our label. The Lone Oak Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands is positioned to take advantage of some of the best grape growing conditions in California for ultra-premium Pinot Noir. The southeast facing slopes sit above the fog, allowing the vines to take full advantage of the sun. This long sun exposure, combined with the cool temperatures from the Monterey Bay, creates a longer growing season which in turn increases the complexity in the fruit. The Lucienne Vineyards 2007 Lone Oak Vineyard Pinot Noir is the third single vineyard program release from this winery owned by Hahn Estates. The Lone Oak Vineyard is a small and prestigious vineyard located in the cooler, northern sector of the Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation. Below average temperatures, coupled with minimal rainfall in the winter of 2007, caused a delayed bud break. Normally, the average rainfall in the Santa Lucia Highlands ranges from 12 to14 inches; this vintage experienced about half of normal precipitation. The summer months were typical with early morning fog burning off by mid morning, then followed by drying breezes. Because of drought-like conditions, irrigation was monitored very closely which allowed the vines to develop enough foliage, yet kept them perfectly stressed which helped prevent excessively large grapes. These dry seasonal conditions led to very small berries and clusters. The quality of the small crop of Pinot Noir was then elevated even further during the warm Indian summer in early fall which allowed powerful, yet beautiful, flavor and tannin development. The grapes were harvested October 3 through 5, 2007 and then hand-sorted, de-stemmed, crushed and loaded into 3-ton fermentors. BGY yeast was used for fermentation at 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit with punch down three times per day. Free run was drained off to barrel (50% new French oak including coopers such as Seguin Moreau, Dargaud, Jaegle and DeMercurey). Press lots of wine were not used in the final blend. This vintage of Lucienne Lone Oak Vineyard Pinot Noir, comprised of 667, 2A and Pommard clones, was barrel aged for 14 months prior to bottling in January of 2009. The 2007 Lone Oak Pinot Noir tantalizes with aromas of wild cherry, juicy raspberry and hints of leather interlaced with bright pomegranate and earthy mushroom flavors. The silkiness on the palate leads into a feminine, well-choreographed and elegant finish.

Saintsbury Pinot Noir Brown Ranch 2007 750ml
USD 48.19

Rich earthiness andblack fruit with stunning persistence is a hallmark of this wine. Once upon a time we bought 40 acres of cow pasture and turned it into the vineyard we call the Brown Ranch. The name comes from the family that had owned it for more than a century. In 1991 we planted it to new Dijon selections of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The first harvest at the Brown Ranch was 1995. As soon as we tasted the wines, we knew we had something remarkable on our hands. The Brown Ranch has turned out to be a wonderful site for both cultivars.Because all of our vineyard lots are fermented and aged separately we are able to track their progress in the cellar as individual wine lots. From the Brown Ranch there are nine different lots: four different clones are grafted to three rootstocks on two soil types. The ranch has a combination of typical Carneros clay loams as well as some more volcanic soil types and steeper hillsides. Yields typically range from 2.5 to 3.75 tons/acre (35-55 hl/ha). Though each has unique character, overall, the eight lots from this ranch show more rich earthiness and black fruit than the more red fruit characters of other lots in our cellar.Late in 1996, tasting through the barrels, we decided to blend and bottle by itself a small amount from the very best of these lots. This became our first bottling of the ”Brown Ranch” Pinot Noir. The wine is offered in six-bottle wooden cases, with a new package design that pays tribute to George Saintsbury. We look forward to continuing the tradition of this bottling honoring both our namesake and the vineyard so integral to the future quality of Saintsbury wines.

Hitching Post Pinot Noir Cork Dancer 4.1 2009 750ml
USD 25.17

This wine is from United States, California region, Santa Barbara sub-region. Frank Ostini a chef, and Gray Hartley, a fisherman, make handcrafted Pinot Noir from vineyards in Santa Maria Valley and Santa Rita Hills. Frank and Gray first made wine at home in 1979. The project moved to a winery in 1984 to make wines exclusively for the Hitching Post Restaurant. With the 2008 harvest, Frank and Gray moved the winemaking to Terravant Winery, a new ultra premium facility in Buellton.Their focus has been to work with some of the best growers in Santa Barbara County, from the quality vineyards of Santa Maria Valley, Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Rita Hills and Los Alamos. The grapes are picked in the early morning and destemmed into 1.5 ton open-top fermentation vats. Cold maceration is allowed for several days, and then cultured yeast is added to promote a long and cool fermentation. Manual punch downs from 1-3 times/day depending on the stage of fermentation. Pressing occurs after 14-21 days directly into barrel (no settling of solids). The wine rests in barrel until racking just before bottling. Most wines are aged in French oak barrels for 18 months and are bottled unfiltered. As the wine matures it is simply left to gently age in the barrel. PINOT NOIR Wine California Still Wine
