We are very happy to finally be able to offer this NOP certified Organic Tieguanyin. Our series of Organic Tieguanyins is a great breakthrough in Chinese teas: while many teas from China can have some sort of organic certification, only NOP approved teas are truly able to be called organic in the US. The collection includes four grades of Organic Tieguanyin: Regular, Royal, Gold and Select. The difference in grade depends on the quality and size of the leaf: on higher grades, the leaves are larger, some more than 2 inches long. With all the grades, it is easy to get "intoxicated" from the sublime floral aromas. These teas can compete with some of the best Taiwanese oolongs, yet retain a distinctly spicy mainland China bouquet. The leaves be infused 4-8 times, gongfu style, and gongfu style brewing is the best way to taste the subtle notes of this thick-leaved oolong. Try one, try all - you won't be sorry! USD 21.09 Authentic Tieguanyin oolong made from a distinct varietal of the tea plant known as “red hue kwan yin" produces the best quality. This is because this plant varietal produces the fuschia tip and tender buds ideal for making the tieguanyin taste. The original producing area of Tieguanyin oolong teas is Xiping village of Anxi County in Fujian province, China. Many plants were also transplanted into Nantou County in Taiwan. Tieguanyin is probably the most complex oolong to make, requiring 10-13 different rolling actions and proper baking temperatures. In terms of the color spectrum, there are many types of Tieguanyin - from the greener lightly roasted, to the dark and heavily roasted. Deluxe Tieguanyin is in the middle of the color spectrum.
