Why are there different blends of gasoline for winter and for summer?
i wasn't sure where to post this.
you may be thinking of California. there it is not a temperature issue. Winter is the smog season, so the fuel is blended with an oxidizer to reduce ozone generation which is a component of smog. this reduces the effective octane rating, so a more expensive refinery blend is required to compensate.
